  MORNING Walking Tour of Intramuros -This is the historic Walled City of Old Manila, the original seat of government since the earliest period of the Philippines. Spain transformed it into a fortress capital city during the period of colonization. Today it is a must for beginners in Philippine History. The tour consists of a leisurely walk around a selection of Intramuros’ most stunning structures and take in a humorous analysis of Philippine art, culture, and society from Pre-Hispanic Manila until present.

  AFTERNOON Tour of the National Museum : Museum of the Filipino People - The National Museum was established in Manila on October 29, 1901 as the 'Insular Museum of Ethnology, Natural History and Commerce under the Ethnology Department of Public Instruction by Virtue of Act No. 284 passed by the Philippine Commission. Since then, it has changed names and location, placed under various departments and offices, merged, abolished, transferred and re-created to become the 'National Museum.'

On February 12, 1998, Republic Act 8492 also known as the 'National Museum Act of 1998', finally established the National Museum as an independent institution with a permanent and exclusive site known as the National Museum Complex. This consists of the National Museum Main(former Old Congress Building), which houses the National Art Gallery, the Museum of the Filipino People (former Finance Building), and the Department of the Tourism Building which shall become the Museum of Natural History. Per P.D. 804-A, the Planetarium is also administered and maintained by the National Museum.

The National Museum at present is composed of 12 disciplines in the areas of anthropology, archaeology, arts, geology, museum education, cultural properties, planetarium, zoology, botany, restoration and engineering, chemistry and conservation, and archaeological sites and branch museums. It has 19 branches and sites nationwide.

  NOTE: The Philippines, Manila in particular, is a veritable treasure trove of a wide range of Philippine products (local handicrafts; food, snacks and pastries; ready-to-wear fashion and accessories, including shoes and bags; pearls and other jewelry) to well-known international brands. The SNAMM Secretariat, upon request of delegations, may facilitate and/or organize visits to the main shopping centers of the capital city, for the SOM and Ministers’ spouses.  
       
  Suggested Shopping Destinations:  
  Makati – This is the central business district of Manila, where the major branches of the main department stores – Rustan’s and Shoemart – are located.  
     
  Ortigas – This area features two most interesting shopping centers. The Greenhills Shopping Center offers a wide variety of products ranging from ready-to-wear fashion for children to adults, shoes and bags, art pieces, as well as pearls and other jewelry. Tiendesitas is an open-air shopping area for Philippine handicrafts and antiques.
